Infinity Engine Talk Table Editor is a program that can edit the text resources for games that use the game engine called Infinity Engine. The game engine is a system that creates and develops video games. It provides a core functionality that includes a rendering engine for 2D or 3D graphics, sound, physics engine or collision detection, animation, and scripting. The Talk Table Editor is the program that allows users to add descriptions, images, and names during a play session. The Infinity Engine Talk Table Editor is based on BWL’s Talk Table Viewer, and it contains all of the Viewer’s functions in addition to talk table editing services. The application works for IE games like BG1, BG2, IWD2, PST and IWD, including all of these games’ official expansions and unofficial mods. It can view and edit talk table (TLK) files, allowing players to edit already existing strings and create new ones. The feature called TLKAssistant provides access to the editor functions while the customizable browser window displays the string, and the offset, type, length, pitch, and volume variance of the string.
TalkEd is a TLK editor from stoffe that is capable of adding, searching, and modifying entries in dialog.tlk, and merge two .tlk files. It is used in the dialog and sound editing of the game Starwars: Knights of the Old Republic (KotOR). The application works with both KotOR1 and TSL, and can add new entries to a TLK file and edit or delete existing ones. Dialog.tlk is the file that contains all the standard text strings in the file, and links from the sound files to certain text strings. TSL is the language dialog file used for first-person shooter games, containing the strings of dialog that are displayed during gameplay. It allows the game to have multiple localizations for different languages. TLK files are located within the game installation directory and are often named dialog .tlk. TalKed can keep track of the file it has loaded, and allows editing of entries in the grid by a doubleclick.
