SuperCard is development software that uses the programming language called SuperTalk, which is based on the language used in HyperCard. SuperTalk is capable of calling out to OSA-based scripting languages like AppleScript, and shell commands. The language is extended with the use of externals, which are group of compiled code that appear like native routines. Programs that are created with the use of SuperCard are able to run inside the IDE itself as a standalone, it combines the programs created by the users and resources through the execution engine. The software supports Mac OS X’s Spotlight indexing and search mechanism. Spotlight indexes contents in the project’s scripts and text fields. The existing projects which are opened with SuperCard 4.7, will be indexed automatically. The project-level properties, dontIndexFields and dontIndexScripts, allows users to control what is indexed for specific projects. The projects that are found by the Spotlight search will receive a spotlightRequest message with the characters entered for the search, when the projects will be opened from the Spotlight menu. SuperCard runs on Macintosh computers, under Mac OS 8, Mac OS 9, and Mac OS X.
