System Deployment Image (SDI) a file format utilized mainly to contain an arbitrary disk image, including boot sector information in the Microsoft products; it is commonly used by Windows Embedded Studio, which is responsible in creating files that are stored in the SDI format. Windows Embedded Studio is capable in creating disk images, and then its output will be considered as disk image file. These are files containing part, boot and load blob, primarily used in creating the Random Access Memory and boot disks to load and install Windows. SDI files can be made, edited and deployed using the SDI File Manager program of the Windows Embedded Studio because this program has a command-line tool sdimgr that enables editing SDI files possible. The SDI format is also backed up by a range of other applications such as Fidonet, Steelpac RCS, Smart Diary Suite, QuickBooks, and Sharpdesk. Other applications that able to accessed SDI files are Windows Internet Explorer, Windows Live Movie Maker, and WinRAR.
