Apple ClarisWorks is a former name of what is now called AppleWorks, which was a computer software developer created in the year 1987 by Apple Computer, or popularly known as Apple Inc. (the new name of the company). It used to have its own copyrights and source code to some programs like MacPaint and MacWrite so it can be separated and differentiated from between some software activities and hardware or OS activities. After 3 years, ClarisWorks became an owned subsidiary, and bought an integrated application. Another year after, the name ClarisWorks was official from its original name Claris, but it took 11 years before it was rebranded to AppleWorks for Mac computers. Prior to that, this software developer came out with upgrades to give a modern and user-friendly interface, which was evident on MacWrite Pro, MacDraw Pro and FileMaker Pro. The downside is that it lacks some features when compared to Microsoft suite.
AppleWorks a software which started out as Claris works, was a business suite product used mainly for office presentation and documentation. This is a combination of page lay-outing, presentations, spreadsheets, databases, image manipulation and word processing, all contained in a single software. All of these were combined to form a flawless suite that works perfectly together. To encourage user creativity, AppleWorks has a dynamic library which is directly accessed by its customers. This library showcases a choices of Internet-based templates that the users can choose from to make business cards, invitations, mailing labes and others that would put a personal touch in the design of their documents. In some versions, with the help of the XTND framework of Claris, users have an option to save files in whatever format they prefer, Word processing documents and spreadsheets can be saved in Microft format. Drawing frames can also be used in a spreadsheet document, a paint frame can be opened and edited in a drawing document, which made complex and creative layouts. Spreadsheets, movies, texts, and images can be combined in a single document with just one click, using its featured formatting tools.
Apple Pages 4.1 is the 18th version and one of the newest versions of Page, a word processor software with page layout function too for Apple devices with Mac OS X and iOS operating systems. This is also part of the iWork productivity suite with easy to use interface and tools to create document files. This application also has pre-designed templates available with various themes to select from, which include letters, outlines, resumes, flyers, envelopes and posters, located at the Template Chooser tool. Like other word processors, a user can insert images aside from texts on the documents simply by drag and drop function using the Media Browser. In fact, this browser enables a user to access different kinds of media to iPhoto, iMovie, iTunes as well as Aperture. It also imports documents from other applications such as Microsoft Word documents. Pages 4.1 was released on July 20, 2011 which featured support for Mac OS X Lion with auto save, full screen, and character picker. This version was succeeded by Pages 4.2 exactly a year after the release of the 4.1 version.
