Windows Search is a desktop search platform produced by Microsoft Corporation for Microsoft Windows, formerly known as Windows Desktop Search (WDS) on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. It features incremental search, or the so called “search as you type”. It starts searching as soon as characters are entered in the search box, and keeps on refining and filtering the search results as more characters are typed in. This results in finding the necessary files even before the full search text is entered. Property Description (PROPDESC) files is also known as settings files because they are the XML files that handle property descriptions that can be used for searching thru Windows Search. These files must be stored in global location and are made for the properties not found in the system to work properly. Windows Search is the application to open PROPDESC files. It is the very significant utility in Windows that makes it capable for users to find the files in the system just by typing the filename in the search box. Any text editor can edit or modified a PROPDESC file.
