Nortek WinADV is the utility from Nortek that is used in scientific researches to capture velocity measurements of particles, water, and other matter, for example to study rapid current fluctuations in the ocean or in related laboratory experiments. The captured ADV (Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter) data stored in the data file of Nortek WinADV are subsequently converted to the .adv file format that allows data viewing and processing. Viewing and processing of .adv file extension is done using WinADV, a Windows-based viewing and processing utility. After data collection and conversion into .adv format, WinADV simplifies data filtering, identifies anomalies due to low signal strength of the ADV probe, minimizes the need to analyze large quantities of data, and provides an integrated environment to view, review, and process the collected data. Data processing is simplified by the use of flag markers during data collection. WinADV is a 32-bit program that requires Windows 95 or NT operating system, and Visual Basic 4.0.
