SmartDraw is a software that functions as a visual processor. It is used in creating flowcharts, organization charts, mind maps, project charts, and other visual projects. It runs exclusively on Windows operating systems like Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Windows 2000. The software uses Microsoft’s Fluent User Interface in connection with the automated panels that are specific to each individual type of diagram. SmartDraw is integrated with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Project which makes it capable of exporting diagrams in common image PDF file formats. There are file extensions that are specific to the software, this includes SmartDraw Documents (.sdr), this is a binary file format used in saving SmartDraw documents, the Smart/Draw Templates (.sdt) which is a binary file format that is used in saving SmartDraw reusable document templates, the SmartDraw Libraries (.sdl) a binary file format that is used in saving symbol libraries in SmartDraw and the SmartDraw Collections (.scz), a binary file format used in saving SmartDraw collections.
