Recog is an application generally classified as a data management and scientific information analysis program, and its name stands for Research Environment for Comparative Genomics. This software was developed for geneticists, research and development laboratories, scientific groups, professors and students among other experts in the field of biochemistry and genetics. Recog is integrated with a set of features that allow users to access workbench tools for conducting small to large scale comparative data extraction, management and analysis of scientific information. The most recent release of Recog, as of this writing, is 1.0.17. With this tool, users are provided with efficient ways to enter and organize scientific data gathered from external devices, actual experiments, soft and hard copies of documents. The other features of Recog can then be used to update the stored data with ease, share these pieces of digital information to expedite workgroup collaboration projects and print out sections of the stored data for quicker reference and analysis. Recog requires Sun Java SE, which means users should first have at least version 1.4 of JDK or JRE installed in their machines.
