These are files that contain sound information such as attack time, sustain time, decay time, vibrato, phaser offsets, and filters. These files are often used for storing sound effects for video games in XML format. They were ported from the original SFXR Windows program and have the ability to export to WAV format like SFXR. The freeware program randomly generates the levels across various sound settings each time the user selects a new sound. According to the creator of the program, it was primarily created to provide a simple means of getting basic sound effects into a game for people who were having a hard time doing it. what is a file extension?

A file extension is the set of three or four characters at the end of a filename; in this case, .cfxr. File extensions tell you what type of file it is, and tell Windows what programs can open it. Windows often associates a default program to each file extension, so that when you double-click the file, the program launches automatically. When that program is no longer on your PC, you can sometimes get an error when you try to open the associated file.
