Hello Kian!

This error occurs when a certain file is used by a currently running process/service on your computer or when the file is currently opened/played.

Make sure that you have successfully terminated or closed the processes of the running program or opened files in order to delete.

If you don't mind, would you mind sharing us what file exactly are you deleting?

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi Kian,

If you’re getting the File in use error, it’s most likely that the file is being used by a different application. Sometimes, certain apps can use files in the background and cause this error to appear. To fix the issue, be sure to close all running applications and try to delete the file. In addition, restart your PC and try to delete the file again.

To do that, follow these simple steps:
  1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  2. When Task Manager opens, navigate to Processes tab. Locate Windows Explorer on the list, right click it and choose End Task.
  3. Once Windows Explorer closes, select File > Run a new task.
  4. The Create new task window will now appear. Enter explorer and click OKto start Windows Explorer again.

Once Windows Explorer starts, try to delete the file again. If that doesn’t work, you can try to terminate the process that’s related to the problematic file.
Fix 2: Use OpenFilesView
It will help you easily solve the problem by letting you close the locked file from a menu. OpenFilesView is one of those little portable apps that's great to keep around on the occasions you run into this error

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Lokesh

I kept getting the blue screen with Driver Power State Failure error message and then my computer would restart. I found your product and it did not happen any more. I just purchased an anti-virus (kaspersky) and now it is doing it again. It is so frustrating. My computer is only 6 months old. It is a Asus desktop.
