.mox File Extension

Developer: Imagine That, Inc.
File type: Simulation File
You're here because you have a file that has a file extension ending in .mox. Files with the file extension .mox can only be launched by certain applications. It's possible that .mox files are data files rather than documents or media, which means they're not meant to be viewed at all.

what is a .mox file?

The MOX file extension is a data file format associated to a simulation tool known as ExtendSim. The MOX file format and the ExtendSim software were developed by Imagine That, Inc. to provide users with functionalities for simulating real life processes in a wide variety of fields, such as manufacturing, healthcare, supply chain, communications, defense, environmental, agricultural, biological, energy, reliability, service, information flow and recreational systems. Simulation is the process of having a system model and carrying out real experiments to determine a certain hypotheses. There are four ExtendSim software packages, namely Continuous Process, Operations Research, Advanced Technology and Suite. This software was formerly known as Extend. The continuous Process version is also known as System Dynamics. The Operations Research version uses discrete event simulation features, while the Advanced Technology version is integrated with rate-based functionalities. The Suite version uses 3-Dimensional animation models, and it can handle the six simulation techniques in one package, and self-documenting features are also implemented into this version. This application is based on the six sigma management strategies. Files in the MOX format can be opened with the Imagine That ExtendSim software in Microsoft Windows-based systems or in Mac platforms.

how to open a .mox file?

Imagine That ExtendSim

Imagine That ExtendSim

Previously known as Extend, ExtendSIM is a brand of simulation software products from Imagine That. All four installation packages have the same core features required to run simulations of events or processes in different environments and involving groups or individual agents. The base product ExtendSIM CP has the necessary toolset for graphical construction of a continuous process simulation. It can create custom 2D animation for an Agent Based system or a Monte Carlo simulation. In addition, the package has more than a thousand functions for users to choose from while developing their simulations. Other full-featured products include the Operations Research (OR) toolkit, the Advanced Technology (AT) software, and the ExtenDSIM Suite for building a professional 3D environment for simulation models. Licenses offered are the stand-alone installations for individuals and the concurrent network license. Installations in Windows 7/XP/2000 needs a Pentium 4 chip or newer, at least 300 disk space, and recommended 1 GB RAM for an optimal performance.

a word of warning

Be careful not to rename the extension on .mox files, or any other files. This will not change the file type. Only special conversion software can change a file from one file type to another.

what is a file extension?

A file extension is the set of three or four characters at the end of a filename; in this case, .mox. File extensions tell you what type of file it is, and tell Windows what programs can open it. Windows often associates a default program to each file extension, so that when you double-click the file, the program launches automatically. When that program is no longer on your PC, you can sometimes get an error when you try to open the associated file.
