These files have the ability to convert a Mind Map to a UseCase or a Class Diagram and this is done simply by dragging and dropping objects. The Jude Community is a modeling program that contains basic features but rich in functionality and can edit and print UML1.4 diagrams as well as supports the import and export of auto layouts, Java source codes and graphics output. JUDE/Community

JUDE/Community

Pronounced as judo, JUDE or the JAVA and UML Developers' Environment is a modeling tool created by Change Vision, a Japanese software company that believes in making products that people can use immediately after installation. This tool creates UML diagrams of different types that show a system's static structure with its classes and attributes. For instance, it's applicable for presenting the process flow of an online purchase starting from the customer placing an order, then collecting the payment, and ending with delivering the filled order. The software runs on Windows XP/Vista in a Java 5.0 or 6.0 environment and it needs at least 400 MB of free disk space and 512 MB or more memory. JUDE is not supported on Linux or Mac OS. Since April 2012, JUDE/Community has become Astah Community, which supports the free add-on Astah that enhances UML diagrams and refines the application development process.
JUDE/Professional

JUDE/Professional

JUDE refers to JAVA and UML Developers' Environment, which is a UML diagram creator that operates inside JAVA. JUDE/Professional creates flowcharts, mind maps, and data flow diagrams for use in business presentations. The Professional edition of JUDE creates the source code for modeling as well as generates the model based on the source file. It allows merging of two or more projects and splitting up of a big project into smaller files. It also allows exporting of projects into HTML or RTF documents and converting one diagram type to another. The program also creates CRUD (Create, Read, Update and Delete) tables, which is portable to another format that a spreadsheet application recognizes. While editing a diagram or mind map, users can add hyperlinks in the document pointing to another file in the project folder or to an external URL on the Web.
JUDE/Server

JUDE/Server

JUDE/Server was the third component of the software development and project management suite created by Change Vision in Japan for educational and business applications. Its current incarnation is Astah Share, formerly known as JUDE/Share, which allows a team of developers to collaborate seamlessly in the cloud. Team members can upload and edit project files, post and reply to comments, attach links and images to comments, and record the milestones in an ongoing project. When integrated with other UML tools, project management software like JUDE/Server helps development teams manage resolved or recently discovered bugs and keep track of past and present version updates. The server-side software runs in a JAVA-based environment running on a Linux or Windows 2003 platform. At the same time, its client-side application only needs a web browser, like Firefox or Internet Explorer, installed on a Windows XP/Vista computer connected to the Internet.

a word of warning

Be careful not to rename the extension on .jude files, or any other files. This will not change the file type. Only special conversion software can change a file from one file type to another.

what is a file extension?

A file extension is the set of three or four characters at the end of a filename; in this case, .jude. File extensions tell you what type of file it is, and tell Windows what programs can open it. Windows often associates a default program to each file extension, so that when you double-click the file, the program launches automatically. When that program is no longer on your PC, you can sometimes get an error when you try to open the associated file.
