.ish File Extension

Developer: N/A
File type: ISH Compressed Archive
You're here because you have a file that has a file extension ending in .ish. Files with the file extension .ish can only be launched by certain applications. It's possible that .ish files are data files rather than documents or media, which means they're not meant to be viewed at all.

what is a .ish file?

These ISH compressed archive files are stored in the ISH format, and these are compressed files implemented with ISH compression specifications. The ISH compression standards are commonly integrated into many local file compression and decompression programs. These ISH compressed archive files are also implemented with encoding standards and are affixed with the .ish extension. A file can be compressed using the ISH compression algorithm to reduce the size of the file, which is useful for making it easier and quicker to distribute the file in many channels, such as through Web resources or offline optical media like CDs and DVDs among other external data storage devices. This is similar to a file compressed in the ZIP format, which is more widely used than the ISH compression format. A group of files can also be selected by the user for compression as one ISH file, and even a group of folders containing multiple files can be stored in an .ish file using ISH compression specifications. The RAR format is also a well known file compression format similar to these ISH files and the ZIP format.

HiroRAR

HiroRAR

HiroRAR is multi-format decompression software developed by Hiroshi Shimada. It is free software that operates on platforms supported by Windows Me, 95, 98, 2000 and NT operating systems. Like other decompression software, it supports archive formats for archiving, backup and mobility. It can back up your data and reduce the size of email attachments, decompress RAR, ZIP, and other files downloaded from the Internet. The application also creates new archives in the RAR and ZIP file format. It has a high file compression ratio and supports other archive extensions, and can detect and handle self-extracting archives. Self-extracting archives contain file archives and the program to extract this information. In order to use an archive file that was created in a different format, a de-archiver or decompression software like HiroRAR is required. The application supports advanced advance archive features such as delete, extracr, add, sfx and unsfx.

a word of warning

Be careful not to rename the extension on .ish files, or any other files. This will not change the file type. Only special conversion software can change a file from one file type to another.

what is a file extension?

A file extension is the set of three or four characters at the end of a filename; in this case, .ish. File extensions tell you what type of file it is, and tell Windows what programs can open it. Windows often associates a default program to each file extension, so that when you double-click the file, the program launches automatically. When that program is no longer on your PC, you can sometimes get an error when you try to open the associated file.
