The “AGP INTERNAL”BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) error appears on the computer screen when the Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) detects a problem with an installed video device or driver. The AGP functions as a channel that attaches the motherboard of the computer to the installed video card, and helps to accelerate 3D video graphics. The computer implements the automatic shutdown to prevent the loss of important data.
This BSOD error is usually associated with drivers that are outdated, corrupted, or incompatible with the installed video adapter. It is also caused by a faulty device such as a video card, memory card, or a memory stick, or the improper installation of such devices. Incompatibilities with the system BIOS (Basic Input / Output System) will also result to this BSOD error.
This BSOD error is also known as “AGP_INTERNAL” and “Windows STOP 0x00000115“. Some users of Windows Vista, Windows 2008, and Windows 7 and 8 have reported this error that contains the message “Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer”.
If a new video device has been added to the computer prior to the appearance of the “AGP INTERNAL” BSOD error, you can resolve the problem by shutting down the system, removing the device, and then rebooting the system. Alternatively, you can use a hardware diagnostic software to confirm that the item is faulty, and replacing the unit if it is defective. You also have to verify the installation of video cards, memory cards, and disk drive cables since improper installations can cause BSOD errors.
Some BSOD errors are due to corrupted and outdated driver or driver incompatibility. To resolve this issue, check the official download sites for video drivers and install the latest version. It may be necessary to upgrade the system BIOS to its latest version to resolve incompatibility issues.
